Clean Out Your Closet and Help the Environment With Stefanie Johnson | EPI 30If you’re like most, there are probably a few articles of clothing in your closet that you’re not too fond of.

Maybe you’re skipping over clothes that no longer fit and pulling out something you used to like. Maybe you’ve wondered how to clean out your closet and swap with others, but you don’t want to lug a few bags to a thrift store. Maybe you’ve even considered a personal stylist.

Well, today’s guest in the Stand Out Be You Podcast has a solution for that—and it’s not a secondhand store!

Stefanie Johnson, founder and CEO of SwapIt, joins your host Tequila Dodard to discuss her unique approach to creating the perfect wardrobe, giving back to the community, and empowering women to feel their best.

From the privacy of your own home, the SwapIt team helps you trade your unwanted clothes for secondhand outfits in their growing inventory, offers styling tips and advice, and leaves you with a style strategy you can use to feel good in your own skin (and clothes)!

Clean Your Closet and Help the Environment

We take that feeling of inadequacy, jealousy, of nervousness, of whatever you were feeling looking at those other families, and we swap it, right? We swap it for a feeling of amazingness, of self-worth, of no more self-doubt in there. That’s really what we do.

Stefanie Johnson comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and business owners, but she first got the idea for SwapIt after struggling to feel good about her own wardrobe. In search of outfits that fit well and matched her vision of herself, Stefanie scoured thrift stores and even paid for a professional stylist.

At the same time, she was learning more about the fashion industry’s effects on the environment: the average American throws out 81 pounds of clothes per year, for example, amounting to 26 billion pounds of textiles tossed into landfills.

Knowing her solution had to address this growing environmental issue as well, Stefanie started SwapIt. With passion and insight, SwapIt aims to teach you how to clean out your own closet and swap with others, with a goal of helping you feel ready to take on the world in new-to-you clothes that match your own personal style.
