Pinterest has over 300 million active users looking through profiles and brands to find inspiration to buy goods and services. Despite having an astonishingly high number of users, the business world still looks at Pinterest with questionable eyes. Pinterest marketing is a mystery for many business owners and entrepreneurs.

Whether it’s how to begin Pinterest marketing or how Pinterest can help you grow your business, people have a lot of questions and myths about Pinterest. One of the most prevalent myths is that Pinterest is meant for housewives, as the majority of users are female.

Since 2010, Pinterest has faced many ups and downs. From women looking for food recipes to entrepreneurs selling their products, Pinterest has seen it all. Today, Pinterest is the most used social media platform to find food, fashion, interior design, and travel tips.

Then how can a business deny the power of Pinterest?

With 300 million pinners waiting to find your brand, you have to create a business account on Pinterest. As per the Pinterest stats, over 80% of users make their shopping decision after checking the pins on Pinterest. Pinterest users are always looking for new brands and products.

Are you using Pinterest to grow your business? If not, don’t worry. I will explain how you can attract more audience with Pinterest.

Below listed is the step-by-step guide on how to attract more customers to your website using Pinterest:

Step 1: Set up your Business account on Pinterest

You may or may not have a Pinterest account already. If you have a personal account, avoid using it for business purposes. Create a business account, or you can convert the personal account into a business account.

The significant difference between a personal and business account is that you get access to Pinterest Analytics with a business account, which shows your content's statistical performance. The analytics provide you the information about what kind of content brings in more traffic.

Once your business account is set up, create a board for your targeted audience. Board is a place where you can post images related to one niche. Pinterest lets you create multiple boards, and you can assign each board to a different type of content.

I recommend allotting one board to blogs, another one to products, and one more to the website's upload.

Step 2: Create Eye-Catching Pins

After creating the board, start pinning. You need to create eye-catching images to compel the users to click on the link and visit your website. Avoid using low-quality pins, as the other Pinterest users will only repin your post if it’s of high quality.

As per Pinterest’s guide, the best images have an aspect ratio of 2:3. Stick to 50:50 proportions of text and image if you want a successful pin. The text should be readable over the image.

You can use free tools like Canva that helps to create Pinterest images and graphics.

Always link a pin to your website to ensure that the pinner will click on it. And that’s how Pinterest brings traffic to your site.

If your pins are linked to other resources, there is a probability that the Pinterest algorithm will show the pin in the Smart Feed.

Additionally, with a business account, you can create rich pins. The rich pins are used to post more information than a regular pin. You can create rich pins for articles, apps, products, and recipes.

Step 3: Search Engine Optimization of Pinterest Profile

Pinterest works in the same way as Google. It’s a visual search engine. You must make your whole Pinterest profile search engine optimized.

From your profile name, pin name, pin description to board description, everything must include SEO keywords. If you want your potential customers to find you, you must make your profile searchable.

The Pinterest algorithm can rank your Pinterest profile on Google, which means more audience, more traffic to your website.

The average lifespan of a Pinterest pin is four months, much higher than any other social media platform. Let’s assume that you posted a pin today, you can get the results from the pin even after four months, only if you used SEO keywords.

You can increase the chances of coming in higher ranks of Pinterest search by using the same keyword for multiple pins. Keep one keyword for the theme of your website. Whenever you post a pin about website content, use the same keyword. It will ensure that the pin with the highest engagement appears in the Pinterest search results.

The best way to find popular keywords is to use a guided search. Type a word related to your niche, and see what other users type to search about it.

Step 4: Consistently Pin Images on Pinterest

Consistency is the key to a successful Pinterest marketing. You won’t get any results if you post one pin every week.

I would recommend pinning 3-5 pins every day at the beginning stage of your Pinterest marketing. Slowly take the number to 10-15 pins daily. It’s simple; if you post more pins, you will get more attention from your targeted audiences.

Some people choose to post pins manually, which can take a lot of time.

I use Tailwind to schedule pins to make sure that the pins get the highest engagement during the peak hours when most users are online and waiting to see new pins. Tailwind automatically analyses my board statistics and recommends the best timing to post the pin. You can sign up for free Tailwind and get access for 30 days.

Step 5: Join Pinterest Groups

Pinterest wants users to repin other’s content and enhance engagement. You can follow other people who support your niche. Once you start to follow them, they will follow you back.

It is challenging to gain thousands of followers overnight. You can join the Pinterest group to get your content seen by more pinners.

You can pin regularly on the group board, and if the pinners like your pin, they will repin it. These extra pins will attract more followers and drive traffic to your website.

If you follow all these steps, you will successfully attract more customers to your website.
