To have a Facebook Business page or not still remains in question. However, I am here to tell you that you should have one. I mean, why not? It's one of the great ways to help you increase your visibility online. Not to leave out… There are close to 2 billion people on Facebook and it's free.
Facebook Fan/ Business pages should be looked at as the stepping stone to your next phase of introducing yourself to your audience. What's the purpose of your Facebook Business Page??What's the next step? Ask me what I think the next stop should be…
Now if you are on Facebook doing business more than likely you already have a Fan page aka Business Page. If not, not to worry we are going to chat all about it. In fact, I will take you through a high-level overview explaining how you can make sure your page Stand Out when someone visits you.
Now you might be one to say why do I need to have a Business page if I have already have my personal page. Well while building your following on your personal page is important having a business page is just as important. You need your business page for example to run ads, create offers and give your audience another reason to know, like and trust you to name a few.
Oh and guess what you can keep track of your insights. For example: Did you know you can connect back with every person who watches a video on your page up to 30 secs, 10 minutes, 20 minutes and so on? You can re-target them into your marketing campaigns.
With all the noise and social media being a high consideration these days within everyone's marketing, it's a good idea to be sure your brand or company looks outstanding. Doing so gives you the cutting edge over the competition, it attracts your ideal target audience and increases your shares to others.
Which is what social media is all about being social and sharing right? More importantly, let's just say Google will begin to love you as well because if people are socializing about you then you will be found more in the search rankings.
Oh and always remember as mentioned before, your tracking when you have a business page you can keep track of your demographics. Those who have like or shared or commented on your page making it easy to retarget to share more of what you have in future campaigns. Therefore, truly connecting with your ideal targeted audience.
Ok, on with the show…let's start setting this all up.
Ok, we all have seen that creepy looking profile picture…the one that looks suspect. Well yeah…don't do that. Remember your page in the first place is or was created to increase your likes, shares, and comments. Having a nice profile picture immediate invites people to like your page and keeps them coming back. You can place a nice picture of yourself if you are branding you or your business. Something people will remember and spot next time.
Ok, I love to play with my cover photo you can do so much with it. It is the billboard to your page. You can advertise it, place your current offer on it. Whatever to draw the attention of your audience. Make sure it stands out and reminds your audience why they should be doing business with such an outstanding individual such as yourself or your business.
Now keep in mind the dimensions. The size for the cover photo should be 850px in width and 315px height.
Oh and watch your profile picture here. Keep in mind the profile picture is always the lower left corner so when selecting or creating your cover photographic make sure it is clear. Meaning do not add anything underneath this area or it will not be seen. Little warning here: Facebook is ever changing so check that the dimensions are still true for today. Here is an example:
Now that you have the dimensions make sure the cover photo is of high quality.
Now let's move it right along getting out some information…Let's Brag out your page!!
Make sure you tell everyone what your page and business is about. This is the first introduction so make it count!
Choose wisely because remember this is the start of your brand. Once you have over 200 people you have become recognized. In addition, if it has not changed, you will have to request to Facebook to change the name once you reach over 200 followers.
Select the best category and subcategory
Select what category applies to your business, it's another way your target audience will know what you do and can also search for you.
Again, make sure you impress your audience by telling them quickly about your business, what you have to offer and how you can help them. Like when you walk into a store the first person who says: can I help you. This is your short description.
Let's tell your audience all about YOU and your business. You want them to have a thorough overview of what your business is and what it has to offer. Make sure you include all the highlights of your business.
Let everyone know your story and what they can expect from you.
It is always a good touch to let them know how they can reach you. It's also so much more professional.
Always take them back home. Your website is your own personal property on the internet. Always tell them where you reside within the inter-webs. Plus every website can always use more traffic, right?
(You can only change this once so choose wisely)
Now you can back up all your claims. Place all your bragging trophies here in this section.
Add all the custom tabs.
If your Facebook page is not published then it will not be visible to anyone so make sure it is published and made public or it will defeat the entire purpose of having a business page. Also this allows for your page to be search and increase more traffic. In order to make sure you are public go to your settings tab and then go down the line double checking that all the feature are turn on and everything is correct.
Same thing here. Make it easy for your audience to reach you. You can even create an auto-reply to be sent to your customers if you are not able to be reached at that moment. All of this is under settings same as the in the graphic above.
You want to make sure you can communicate with your audience so make sure this feature is turned on. To so by turning on your “reply” setting. This lets you personally respond to each of your fans.
Jazz up your page a little with a few services or other social apps to your page. They really make your page standout. Make sure what you add is adding value to your ideal/ target audience.
Make sure you select yourself as a featured page owner or anyone else on your team. This way it give your customer a little more insight to you and they know you are a real person.
Facebook has a new feature where you can feature any groups you manage. So let people know about any groups you have created that are attached to your business. If you would like to join the DIY and Operations group where solopreneurs are presenting and helping other solopreneurs then you might want to check out the Stand Out Be You “Faces Of Collaboration” Group.
Always good to let your customers know who they can reach. Add all responsible parties in charge of customer care to your page. (With their permission of course because doing the will expose their personal Facebook page)
Now hold on. Before you go all public on me make sure you have some content added to your page. Keep in mind Facebook's postings are ranked in Google as well so happy posting and getting searched by new followers. Content is always king!!!
Provide your audience with useful information to keep them coming back for more. Use content such as photos, articles, videos and more…. oh and let's not forget quotes. It would not be social if we didn't add quotes, right?
When you make your post just as your profile and cover photo…make sure the pics are of quality. If you are offering a service or product give a call to action adding your links and hashtags as needed.
We all know there is no shortage of competition and that's ok. If you are providing genuine value to your audience then it will keep them coming back, sharing your content and ahead of any of your competitors. Keep your fan page fresh and in time you will for sure stand out from amongst the crowd.
