Known as the “Brick Wall Coach” for her uncanny ability to help her clients overcome their biggest challenges, today’s guest in the Stand Out Be You Podcast has a knack for fostering positive potential. Pamela Lewerenz joins your host Tequila Dodard to share her tips and advice for small business owners.
You just have to bring that focus back to who you are and why you started this, what it is that you really want. And once that kicked in with me, it was very good.
When it comes to small businesses, going it alone can be incredibly hard. According to Business Insider, 20% of small business fail after just one year alone, and by the second year, that number jumps to 34%. So how can you make sure that your business really stands the test of time?
Drawing from the experience of others is a good way to start. Every day, Pamela shares her insights and learnings with clients who’ve decided to hire a business coach, allowing them to take advantage of her years of experience with the most common pitfalls and hurdles of a blossoming business.
She knows that running your own business isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, as Pamela explains on the podcast, she herself often felt discouraged in the beginning. Small businesses face unique complications, and very often, she notes, even if you understand one aspect of the business, there are others just outside of your grasp.
This lack of focus can make it difficult to hone in on what really matters, unless you have someone on hand who can give you a touch of clarity.
From solopreneurs (or startup workers just opening the door) to tenured business owners, Pamela’s advice will be a welcome help! Join us on the podcast to hear about her ideas for goal setting, time management, mindset, and Pamela’s top recommendation: vision boards.
If you’ve taken on the responsibility and opportunity of managing your own business, you’re not alone. Join the Stand Out Be You community to hear from other individuals walking in your shoes, and hear everything from the challenges to the triumphs.

Pamela started out with a side-hustle bookkeeping business in 2009. In October 2014, while on a two-week vacation in the Outer Banks, she made the decision to leave herfull-time position as an elected Revenue Collector to pursue her dream to be a business consultant. She gave herself a year to grow her business. For the next year, she worked double-duty, working herjob days and building her business in the evenings (and sometimes well into the wee hours of the morning!) But it was all worth it!
